CSM: new variants of high-voltage measurement modules

The high-voltage measurement modules HV THMM and HV TH-TBM have been specifically developed for safe temperature measurements at high-voltage components in electric and hybrid vehicles. All high-voltage measurement modules have been tested by an accredited laboratory and comply with the safety standard EN 61010.
Its robust and extremely compact construction allow the HV THMM module to be used close to the point of measurement, even where space is very limited, e.g. in the engine compartment. Thus, the module is ideally suited for mobile applications. It is of course also applicable for stationary use.
HV TH-TBM devices are designed as 19'' slide-in modules for the use in test bench applications. The module versions HV TH-TBM x /65 are also excellently suited for mobile use, e.g. for mounting in the trunk of a car.

High-Voltage Measurement Module Features:

·         NiCr-Ni temperature inputs (K type), galvanically isolated

·         Reinforced isolation up to 800 V unipolar

·         Routine test by an accredited laboratory including testing certificate

·         Very low power consumption

·         Very good measurement accuracy under difficult temperature ranges and environmental conditions



ABtronix organizes the seminar ‘Turbomachinery Vibration Analysis’

In week 43 ABtronix will organize the one-day seminar ‘Turbomachinery Vibration Analysis’. The seminar will be hold in a hotel in Breda and hosted by Robert Bloomquist and Georges Sanchez of Data Physics and Ad Bastiaanssen of ABtronix. The exact date is not known yet.

DJB: announces release of new miniature accelerometer A/127/V

DJB Instruments is pleased to announce the release of a new accelerometer which joins its growing product range. The new IEPE (ICP®) A/127/V is a miniature teardrop integral electronics voltage source piezoelectric accelerometer. It uses the unique Konic shear ceramic sensing element developed by DJB Instruments founder Don Birchall which offers unrivalled performance in areas such as cross axis repeatability and temperature stability. It’s low mass (1.9gms) renders it almost invisible to most lightweight structure vibration measurement applications whilst offering high frequency response and excellent reliability.

With an all welded titanium construction it offers a maximum high operating temperautre of 185
°C in HT form whilst maintaining no loss of dynamic range. This high temperature IEPE performance is achieved via DJB’s industry leading hybrid amplifier electronics using its bespoke ultra high temperature ASIC chip.

The signal outlet is via the standard KP (M3.5) miniature microdot connector and is recommended for use with lightweight cable assemblies of a maximum 1mm diameter (available from DJB’s extensive cable assembly facility.) It is available in a wide range of sensitivities from 1mV/g up to 100mV/g output, with standard off the shelf versions available as 5, 10 or 100mV/g.

Monarch Instrument: Track-It Data Loggers for Pressure/Temp and Vacuum/Temp

The Track-It™ Pressure/Temp and Vacuum/Temp Data Loggers are battery powered stand-alone water tight compact data loggers that record up to 64,000 samples. They can be configured to record both Pressure and Temperature or Vacuum and Temperature or either parameter alone to maximize data storage space. The unit is easily configured using the included Track-It™ Software. Simply connect the included USB cable to the logger and an open USB port on your PC and the Track-It™ Software automatically identifies the logger. Configure the unit to start or stop recording immediately, at a predetermined time and date, or only when an alarm condition is sensed.  The sample storage rate can be set from 1 sample every 2 seconds up to 1 sample every 24 hours. The on board data storage is non-volatile so data will not be lost in the event of a depleted battery. 
The Track-It™ Pressure/Temperature Data Logger can be ordered in several pressure or vacuum ranges: 0-35, 0-150, 0-350, 0-550, 0-2000 and 0-5800 PSI or 760-380 and 760-0 Torr. The logger is packaged in a rugged submersible 316L stainless steel housing  and has a standard 1/4” NPT fitting. The replaceable internal lithium battery has up to a 5 year life.

Highlighted: Wayne Kerr’s 3260B Magnetic Analyzer with 3265B DC Bias Current Unit

At the design stage of component development it is vitally important to understand how the component performs under different operating conditions. This might include operation at diverse frequencies, AC drive levels or DC bias currents. The 3260B Precision Magnetics Analyzer can plot any of the measurement functions, such as inductance (L) or impedance (Z), (including secondary term) against frequency, AC drive level or DC bias current. Frequency sweeps within the range 20 Hz to 3 MHz can be selected. There is a choice of either linear or logarithmic frequency displays.
The 3260B is especially suitable for measuring parameters on telecom transformers. The selected measurement parameter and its secondary value are presented graphically. AC drive levels can be set between 1 mV and 10 V. DC bias current can be set from 1 mA to 1 A internally. Using external 3265B 25 A DC Bias Units bias currents can be set to a maximum of 125 A.
With the dramatic growth of PCs connected to the telephone system for Internet access has come the requirement to measure Insertion Loss (IL) and Return Loss (RL) of line matching transformers. The 3260B Precision Magnetics Analyzer not only measures IL and RL has this capability. but the instrument also allows the user to enter the values for terminating resistance or impedance, if complex, and to select a damped network or blocking capacitor if required
In addition, via the IEEE488 GPIB interface, the instrument can be controlled from a PC and results can be read back for analysis and storage. LabVIEW™ drivers are available upon request or may be downloaded from this website providing a base from which a user can develop a specific test application.
The bin sorting function allows component manufacturers to sort components in up to ten bins. Sorting is carried out either by absolute values or by percentage of values.

Courses ‘Introduction to Vibration’ and ‘Fixtures, Software and Specification’


On October 6 and 7, 2015 we will organize again the famous two-days course ‘Introduction to Vibration’ and it will take place in Breda (NL). This course aims to give more insight knowledge to the attendees in:
- testing with a shaker system
- dealing with several kind of tests
- reading the theoretical test and the implementation of the test
- designing a fixture

Here you can find the contents of this course.

A second course ‘Fixtures, Software and Specifications’ will be organised on October 8 for those who are interested in aspects of vibration technology which lays beyond the introduction course. This day is intended to be an interactive course, where you can discuss problems related to vibration technology with the host(s) and your co-participants. You can even bring your own fixture(s), if you have questions about it and want to discuss it.
